Load shedding and rising electricity prices in South Africa are causing consumers to look for ways to save electricity, until recently with few supply problems and cheap electricity saving electricity was never an issue for the South African electricity consumer. Rolling blackouts and load shedding have changed that.
South African electricity consumers have historically benefited from low electricity rates , however this will change as the country experiences load shedding and Eskom increases tariffs to finance additional generating capacity. To make matters worse Finance Minister Manuel will also impose a usage levy if electricity consumers exceed a threshold.
